Tilting Instability in Negative-γ Rotating Nuclei
نویسنده
چکیده
Based on the cranking model and the random phase approximation, we point out that the wobbling excitation on top of the s band in Os is stable against angular momentum tilting. This is consistent with the general trend that the wobbling excitations in γ < 0 rotating nuclei are more stable than those in γ > 0 ones found in our previous studies. In higher N isotopes known to be γ soft, however, a different type of tilting instability is expected. Its possible correspondence to the experimental data is also discussed.

Local Instability of a Rotating Flow Driven by Precession of Arbitrary Frequency
We revisit the local stability, to three-dimensional disturbances, of rotating flows with circular streamlines, whose rotation axis executes constant precessional motion about an axis perpendicular to itself. In the rotating frame, the basic flow is steady velocity field linear in coordinates in an unbounded domain constructed by Kerswell (1993), and admits the use of the WKB method. For small ...
متن کاملTilting Modules in Truncated Categories
We begin the study of a tilting theory in certain truncated categories of modules G(Γ) for the current Lie algebra associated to a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra, where Γ = P × J , J is an interval in Z, and P is the set of dominant integral weights of the simple Lie algebra. We use this to put a tilting theory on the category G(Γ′) where Γ′ = P ′×J , where P ′ ⊆ P is saturated. ...
متن کاملMultifrequency Instability of Cavitating Inducers
Recent testing of high-speed cavitating turbopump inducers has revealed the existence of more complex instabilities than the previously recognized cavitating surge and rotating cavitation. This paper explores one such instability that is uncovered by considering the effect of a downstream asymmetry, such as a volute on a rotating disturbance similar to (but not identical to) that which occurs i...
متن کاملVorticity Budget of Weak Thermal Convection in Keplerian Disks
By employing the equations of mean-square vorticity (enstrophy) fluctuations in strong shear flows, we demonstrate that unlike energy production of turbulent vorticity in non-rotating shear flows, the turbulent vorticity of weak convection in Keplerian disks cannot gain energy from vortex stretching/tilting by background shear unless the associated Reynolds stresses are negative. This is becaus...
متن کاملNew Approach to Instability Threshold of a Simply Supported Rayleigh Shaft
The main goal of this research is to analyse the effect of angular velocity on stability and vibration of a simply supported Rayleigh rotating shaft. To this end, non-dimensional kinetic and potential energies are written while lateral vibration is considered. Finite element method is employed to discrete the formulations and Linear method is applied to analyse instability threshold of a rotati...
